Interesting Thought

I don't know about you, but I'm an avid reader. Not only do I read multiple genres of books, but I try to keep up with various blogs. This last week I read an article that helps me have a different view of my life as my Creator God molds and shapes me. To read it click here.

Psalm 63

1O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
3Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
4So I will bless you as long as I live;
in your name I will lift up my hands.

5My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food,
and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
6when I remember you upon my bed,
and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
7for you have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
8My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.

Super Weekend

This weekend has been great. My friend April from Des Moines decided to visit me for the weekend. I was so excited on Thursday evening when she called to see if it would be OK for her to come.

She arrived Friday evening. We ended up talking until about 1am Saturday morning. On Saturday we went to breakfast around noon, Half Price Books (way better store here in CR than in DSM), the grocery store for food for Sunday, watched a couple movies at my place, went out for sushi, came back to my place watched another movie, and then talked way into the night again. Sunday morning we got up and went to church, made lunch at my place, read our respective books, and then started eating our way through Super Bowl 44. We have made it to halftime and are about half way through the food. Yay Superbowl.

Once the game is over, she will have to head back to DSM. Boo. Maybe the game will go into overtime.

Below is a picture of our sushi. I have to admit that I'm not a fan of raw fish. But at least it was an interesting experience.

Psalm 34

Taste and See That the LORD Is Good

1I will bless the LORD at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2My soul makes its boast in the LORD;
let the humble hear and be glad.
3Oh, magnify the LORD with me,
and let us exalt his name together!

4I sought the LORD, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
5Those who look to him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.
6This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him
and saved him out of all his troubles.
7The angel of the LORD encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.

8Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
9Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints,
for those who fear him have no lack!
10The young lions suffer want and hunger;
but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

11Come, O children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12What man is there who desires life
and loves many days, that he may see good?
13Keep your tongue from evil
and your lips fromspeaking deceit.
14Turn away from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.

15The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous
and his ears toward their cry.
16The face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
17When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears
and delivers them out of all their troubles.
18The LORD is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.

19Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the LORD delivers him out of them all.
20He keeps all his bones;
not one of them is broken.
21Affliction will slay the wicked,
and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
22The LORD redeems the life of his servants;
none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.
